Pureos Bioventures is a venture capital fund, which invests exclusively in private innovative drug development companies, with a special emphasis on the next generation of biological drugs and drug formats. The MVC manages a €10 million fund by investing equity in start-up companies operating within the digital economy and innovative economic sectors that contribute significant value to the Maltese economy. Start-up companies operating in innovative economic sectors will have access to the newly established fund, with each start-up being eligible for up to €500,000 in the form of equity investment. The investment by the fund will be pari-passu with that of private venture capital investors. The Malta Government Venture Capital Limited will be the sole entity responsible for administering this scheme.

The Fund operates within the BRIdgeAlfa Programme, financing research projects undertaken by young and innovative enterprises. The financing provided by the Fund is of a mixed nature and includes a component of equity financing from the Fund's private investors and a component of grant financing from the National Centre for Research and Development. The Fund’s activities are undertaken in close cooperation with the National Centre for Research and Development, which has its representative on the Fund’s Investment Committee.
